REBORN

The Sword and Shield of Quel’Thalas rises from the ashes and is born anew - <Phoenix Guard> has returned. The distant drums of war thunder ominously beyond the horizon, a new threat focused upon the golden shores of Quel’Thalas. As the wind rustles through the autumnal serenity, stalwart allies share a moment of peace and reflection as the uncertainty of what is to come envelops the newly rebuilt landscape. Old allies, comrades, friends, and family answer the call of the Phoenix Guard’s rebirth, prepared to defend their golden homeland at any cost. Selama ashal'anore!

INFO

<Phoenix Guard> has a rich history on Wrymrest Accord, spanning from humble beginnings as a Blood Knight RP group in 2011, to a full-fledged mixed military unit that saw combat in Quel'Thalas, Draenor, the Broken Isles and Argus from 2013 - 2018. The Guard has returned to action in 2026 to protect quel'Thalas from the Void!

DIVISIONS

Formerly, the Phoenix Guard was comprised of four primary divisions - Sword, Shield, Spellweaver, and Striker. The Runesworn project was similarly divided into four ranks - Guardian, Luminary, Scholar, and Naturalist. In an effort to continue the work of the Runesworn project, the current iteration of the Phoenix Guard is divided into four ranks as well - the Bloodsworn, the Sunsworn, the Runesworn, and the Huntsworn.  BLOODSWORN
Blood Knights, Spellbreakers, Farstriders and other branches of the Quel’Thalas military may join together as the Bloodsworn, acolytes of Runestone Shol’zaram. The Bloodsworn have two primary objectives: protect the borders of Quel’Thalas and protect its citizens. These brave militant elves raise their weapons to purge remaining influences of harm to the forests and protect those who seek to restore it.
☆ Key members: Martial classes keen on front-line fighting
  SUNSWORN
A uniquely elven blend of scholar, priest and knight, members of the Sunsworn serve the Sunwell and Quel’Thalas as acolytes of Runestone Bal’nis. The Sunwell’s blending of arcane and Light energies empower the elven mages, priests, and knights to bring succor to the injured and downtrodden of Quel’Thalas, or provide the energy to smite foes with the power of the sun itself.
☆ Key members: Support classes focused on mending and defense.
  RUNESWORN
Magisters and Magistrixes of all backgrounds, calling, experience, and expertise can choose to join the Runesworn, acolytes of Runestone Faltivar. In a grand academic effort, these scholars take lessons from history and practical application of magic to help restore the leylines and other arcane features of Quel’Thalas to their natural state.
☆ Key members: Magic-capable characters focused on history and knowledge.
  HUNTSWORN
Many would argue that the power of Quel’Thalas rests in the beauty of its forests. Those with an affinity to the natural may operate as the Huntsworn, acolytes of Runestone Thaladis. It is the sworn duty of the Huntsworn to both study and protect the natural wonders of the Thalassian realm. These devoted stewards devote countless hours to the forest by ways of druidcraft, herbalism, research, environmental study, and pathfinding but are also fully capable of coming to the strong defense of the land itself by whatever means necessary.
☆ Key members: Rangers and stalkers comfortable moving through various terrain

RP THEMES

MAGIC    The many facets of magical and cosmic powers throughout Azeroth have manifested in different disciplines throughout Thalassian culture. From those who study the arcane to those who subjugated demons or even became demons themselves, the ways in which magic contributes to the history and future of Quel’Thalas offer rich storytelling potential.  THE LIGHT    The Thalassian perspective on Light is unique in that the Sunwell now shines brightly with magic that is both arcane and Light in nature. Many elves have made peace with this new version of the Sunwell, have their own faith in the Light, or cling to the original path of the Blood Knights in dominance of it.  DEFENSE OF THE FOREST    Following the Fall of Quel’Thalas, what remained of the military branches marshalled their strength to lead their people from the brink of extinction. To this day, the Blood Knights, Farstriders and Spellbreakers look after the safety of Quel’Thalas either by lifting their shields to defend their home forests or by training their blade against foes in the far-flung corners of Azeroth and beyond.  THE VOID    Though the remnants of undeath have been pushed out of Quel’Thalas after many years, new threats hunt for opportunities within the elven Kingdom. The machinations of Xal’atath and her minions have spread throughout the world and beyond with Quel’Thalas being another potential target of her plans. After Alleria’s pilgrimage to the Sunwell as a ren’dorei years ago that nearly brought calamity down upon the sacred fount, keen eyes are set upon the Void and those who harness it to ensure the safety of Thalassian life.  POLITICAL TENSION    The destruction of Dalaran in WoW: The War Within and establishment of Silvermoon City as a neutral hub in WoW: Midnight will set the Phoenix Guard in a precarious political position. Founded and cemented as heroes of Quel’Thalas and the Horde, the potential reunification of elven factions is likely to be a hot-button issue the membership will have to navigate on a level of military service as well as personal quandary.

LORE

Phoenix Guard and Runesworn have rich histories and lore to draw upon for their futures as a single project in WoW: Midnight. Weaving over a decade of role play into the reborn <phoenix Guard> and new expansion is a momentous task, which we are taking our time with.

THE GUARD

ORIGINALLY FOUNDED    by Magistrix Sinsaria Dawnrose (player character) and then-Master Ina'thia Dawnblade, the Phoenix Guard has evolved over the years from a strictly Blood Knight organization to an elite mixed military unit fighting for Quel'Thalas and the Horde as a whole. After the Fourth War began in earnest, the Phoenix Guard was decommissioned and its members reassigned to Thalassian or Horde military posts. With a war for the Sunwell and the existence of Quel'Thalas coming to their doorstep, the Phoenix Guard will be reactivated to hold the line.

ENCHANTED GEMS

Veterans of the <Phoenix Guard> were given an enchanted ruby upon joining the ranks. Enchanted to activate with their touch and carry their voice across a network of similar rubies, these gemstones were used to communicate across vast distances and on the front lines. These gems went dormant when the Guard was decommissioned, but will be of use again in WoW: Midnight.Members of the <Runesworn> were issued iridescent sapphires, enchanted by Magistrix Silverspell herself. These gemstones will become part of the <Phoenix Guard>'s communication network.

QUEL'THALAS BASES

SUN'S REACH HARBOR    <Phoenix Guard> once occupied a spire at Sun's Reach Harbor on the Isle of Quel'Danas.  EVERSONG PAVILION    This small pavilion on the coast of Eversong Forest, facing the Isle of Quel'Danas, was the Guard's first headquarters. As the Guard grew and moved on, it is still a known meeting spot between veterans.  NEIGHBORHOOD TBD    We will be exploring a Phoenix Guard and friends neighborhood, where we work together to defeat the final boss known as the HoA. In all seriousness, we will look to customize housing builds to use as RP locations for personal and guild RP.

STRUCTURE

  MAGISTRY OVERSIGHT
Magistrix Sidori Silverspell (NPC)
Magister Vinlan Duskfury (NPC)
  COMMANDER (GM)
Knight-Lord Ina'thia Dawnblade
  COMMANDER (co-GM)
Ranger Captain Ruthar Ronaestrider
  CAPTAIN (officer)
TBD at WoW: Midnight Pre-Patch

NPC Leaders

  MAGISTRIX SILVERSPELL
A surviving Runewarden, Magistrix and originator of the <Runesworn> project, the Magistrix has signed on to recommission the Phoenix Guard in a time of crisis.
  MAGISTER DUSKFURY
An accomplished politician and renowned scholar of magical and military history of Quel'Thalas. The Magister has joined with Silverspell to recommission and oversee the Phoenix Guard in wartime.
NOTE: Magistrix Silverspell and Magister Duskfury are the NPC supporters of <Phoenix Guard> 2.0. They are background characters used by the guild’s officers and storytellers to direct guild storylines. They also provide IC and OOC buffers from our characters having a higher status in the upper echelons of Quel’Thalas than they probably should, thus removing us from any uncomfortable debates about RP politics.

  RUNESTONES

BAN'DINORIEL...    once a marvel of elven magical power, the barrier remains shattered. Of untold many of these great monoliths, the Runesworn of the Phoenix Guard have pledged themselves to discovery of these minor Runestone fragments to craft both weapons and defenses against Xal'atath and the Void.  FALTIVAR    Dal’endal - Breath of the Stars
Guided by the precise movement of the stars in Azeroth’s sky, the sacred geometry of the Arcane both inspires and empowers those who study its ancient mysteries. Scholars, arcanists and others who have tamed the spark of magic pledge themselves to Faltivar’s restoration.
  BAL'NIS    Anar’endal - Breath of the Light
Guided by the warmth of the Light’s embrace and power of the Arcane, these cosmic powers blend harmoniously in the restored Sunwell to answer the prayers of those who call upon it. Those who command the Light pledge themselves to the restoration of Bal’nis so they may bring comfort to their homelands.
  SHOL'ZARAM    Felo’endal - Breath of Fire
Guided by the fiery plumage of the phoenix, those who fought bravely for the survival of Quel’Thalas in all theatres have risen from the ashes themselves time and time again. Burning with the fury of the Sunwell, the Bloodsworn of the Phoenix Guard raise their blades once more for the glory and protection of their people.
THALADIS    Thas’endal - Breath of the Forest
Guided by the subtle changes in the winds, the rustling of leaves and the whispers of the land itself, the Farstriders, Pathstalkers and other naturalists of the Phoenix Guard study the unseen and unwritten laws of nature. Following a path perhaps less fiery than the rest of their compatriots, these masters of the ancient ways use their knowledge to restore what has been burnt and corrupted by the forces of undeath.
AN IMPORTANT NOTE...    While there are four Runestones mentioned in lore, there are only two that are named (Falithas and Shan'dor). There are in-game quests and stories that discuss these Runestones, so we decided to create our own for purposes of the guild narrative use. This allows us to be flexible with whatever the Midnight expansion throws our way, as well as not "owning" such a bedrock of Thalassian lore.As to not encroach on important canon lore too much, the four Runestones that the <Phoenix Guard> derive power from are not the main ones nor are they the most powerful of those that made the greater Ban'dinoriel.

GUILD
CAMPAIGNS

<Phoenix Guard> has enjoyed story arcs in the style of campaigns and we aim to continue that into the future. Campaigns will showcase aspects of Thalassian lore, expansion events/locales and unique challenges for characters to overcome.

  ROLL SYSTEM
<Phoenix Guard> utilizes a very pared down d20 system with basic modifiers. Our emphasis will always be on crafting an excellent story, so writing will always be the showcase of our events.
Dice modifiers include +AMP (ability points tied to the minor Runestones), +DEF (defense) and +MAGIC. As a trio, these stats help characters attack enemies on the front lines, defend their allies or investigate arcane mysteries that the sin'dorei masters of magic specialize in.  MAGICAL ITEMS
On occasion, players may have access to magical items gained through campaigns. These will be handled by DMs on a case-by-case.
  CAMPAIGN EVENTS
We are all busy adults, plain and simple. Our current goal is for 1-2 campaign events per month that run no more than two hours. We're in our "adults with lives who carve out time to be nerds" era.

HOLD THE LINE -- FOR QUEL'THALAS! Are you a former <Phoenix Guard> member looking to rejoin for the Midnight expansion? DM Ina'thia or Ruthar and we'll talk about particulars! Are you an experienced RPer looking for a place to call home? We just might be for you! Recruitment is OPEN.

  RECRUITMENT

FORMER MEMBERS   Characters that closed out <Phoenix Guard>'s last campaign in 2018 are welcome to rejoin. There will be many IC hooks to take advantage of in that regard!  GUILD MEMBERSHIP   Having the <Phoenix Guard> guild tag will not be a requirement for members to participate. Since the guild disbanded so long ago, we understand that many members have moved on to different guilds or stories. We will have an in-game community for members across all tags to join us, just like in <Runesworn>.  ACCEPTED CHARACTERS  All characters must be Horde-aligned Thalassian elves or Nightborne/Shal'dorei with a military background. "Military background" can mean a lot of things for a character within the World of Warcraft and all of its expansions; please feel free to exercise your creativity for how your character has gained their military experience. While Blood Knights, Farstriders, the Royal Guard and Magistry are the backbone of the Thalassian military, the World of Warcraft is expansive and we love characters with well crafted stories.Outside of that, we have sought to significantly broaden our previously narrow recruitment criteria. Lots of time has passed both in the game's story and our lives as people, and we've taken a "more the merrier" approach so long as a character fits into our group theme and narrative.✅ Sin'dorei
✅ Shal'dorei
✅ Darkfallen (Thalassian elf, Horde-aligned)
✅ Death Knights (Thalassian elf, Horde-aligned)
✅ Demon Hunters (Thalassian elf, Horde-aligned)
⚠️ Warlocks and Demon Hunters may need to practice discretion with their fel/demonic abilities; TBD with how that storyline develops for the revamped Quel'Thalas.❌Ren'dorei 1
❌ San'layn 2
1 On the basis of dangerous magical interactions between the void and the Light.
2 On the basis that we as a project have defined San'layn as a Darkfallen sect still loyal to the Scourge. If your undead elf holds no allegiance to the Scourge, they would be considered Darkfallen.
